Kauai County Workers new 100% Medical Pemium Benefit Paid by Employer

Effective this September, the county will pay 100% of the premium and administrative costs for employees who enroll in the Kaiser Standard HMO or HMSA 75/25 PPO health plans for single, 2-party, or family coverage.

Aloha Family,

I am excited to share some great news with all of you. As your State Director at United Public Workers, I have successfully negotiated with your employer to secure exceptional medical benefits on your behalf. The Special Open Enrollment period for Kauai County employees to access these benefits will end on July 26, 2024 at 4:30pm Hawaii time. It is important that each and every one of you take advantage of this money-saving opportunity that has been secured for you.

Effective this September, the county will pay 100% of the premium and administrative costs for employees who enroll in the Kaiser Standard HMO or HMSA 75/25 PPO health plans for single, 2-party, or family coverage. Moreover, the county will pay 100% of the premium and administrative costs for dental coverage and vision coverage.

Or, if you choose not to sign up for the county’s medical coverage, or enroll in the dental and/or vision plan but not the medical plan, you’ll receive a $200 monthly medical benefit. This amount will be divided and added to your semi-monthly pay. The medical benefit is like extra pay, but it’s not part of your regular salary.

By taking advantage of these newfound benefits, you’ll be putting more of your hard-earned money in your pocket. It’s like giving yourself a pay raise, and who doesn’t need a little extra money right now? Seize this chance to secure your health and finances for you and your loved ones.

Mahalo for your hard work and support, and always remember, I got your back.

In solidarity,

Kalani Werner United Public Workers State Director
